WAHS MISSION:  Our mission is to relieve the suffering of and prevent cruelty to animals, and to increase humane education in the Winona area.

Our Team, accompanied by Michele Schultz, spent a couple of hours this past month volunteering at the Winona Area Humane Society (WAHS) where we helped clean in one of their cat areas. When we were there the WAHS was down to only 25 cats which is pretty low considering there highest was slightly over 250! They are a no-kill shelter so that means that there is not a limit on the amount of time an animal can stay there.

There are several ways to give WAHS a helping hand including fostering, volunteering and donating. Fostering is always at the top of their needs list especially with kittens during the Spring and Summer months, puppies and older or special needs animals who need a little extra attention. Volunteers are always appreciated whether it be on a regular basis or for a special event. If you cannot foster or volunteer they can always use donations whether it be monetary or with supplies that the facility needs.

For more information on fostering, volunteering or donating please contact the WAHS at (507) 452-3135 or visit their website at http://winonahumanesociety.org/ .
